InterConti Frankfurt

The InterContinental is reinventing itself and is currently undergoing a sophisticated transformation process that goes far beyond a simple facelift. The distinctive high-rise on the northern banks of the River Main, once the largest hotel in Frankfurt, is being extensively renovated and expanded.

Originally built in the early 1960s and since then renovated and remodeled multiple times, the hotel is now facing a profound modernization. As part of a development plan, the InterContinental will be expanded with a new office wing towards the city and a residential section towards the Main, making it a significant urban ensemble for Frankfurt’s Bahnhofviertel.

Special features

The construction work is particularly challenging due to the central downtown location, as the logistics of the construction site are significantly complicated by the traffic conditions. The expansion of the existing building by approximately 20,000 m² of gross floor area also requires a VEP procedure, which is being advanced concurrently with the structural planning. Close coordination is necessary to ensure smooth progress of the construction despite the complex conditions.
